If you add a - minus sign after % of a placeholder, line-feeds that immediately precede the expansion are deleted if and only if the placeholder expands to an empty string. ShellMenuAccelerators TortoiseGit uses accelerators for its explorer context menu entries. It seems a bit abstract, so what about a concrete example? A combined diff format looks like this: diff --combined describe.

The following options select the commits to be shown: Commits modifying the given are selected. For example, if you have two branches, A and B, a usual way to list all commits on only one side of them is with --left-right, like the example above in the description of that option. The --decorate flag makes git log display all of the references e. Git normally creates a tree by taking the state of your staging area or index and writing a series of tree objects from it.

Ubuntu Manpage: git

Git stores this information in a data structure called a repository. The Git repository is stored in the same directory as the project itself, in a subdirectory called. There is no central server repository. The name is composed of a hash of relevant aspects of the commit, so identical commits will always have the same name. The parent commit objects are those commits that were edited to produce the subsequent state of the project. Generally a commit object will have one parent commit, because one generally takes a project in a given state, makes a few changes, and saves the new state of the project. The section below on merges explains how a commit object could have two or more parents. A project always has one commit object with no parents. This is the first commit made to the project repository. Based on the above, you can visualize a repository as a directed acyclic graph of commit objects, with pointers to parent commits always pointing backwards in time, ultimately to the first commit. Starting from any commit, you can walk along the tree by parent commits to see the history of changes that led to that commit. The idea behind Git is that version control is all about manipulating this graph of commits. Each head has a name. By default, there is a head in every repository called master. A repository can contain any number of heads. This distinction is used frequently in Git documentation. The directory does not need to be empty. Thus, you only need to add files that you have newly created or modified. Note that it adds directories recursively, so git add. As a shortcut, git commit -a will automatically add all modified files but not new ones. Note that if you modify a file but do not add it, then Git git parents login include the previous version before modifications to the commit. The modified file will remain in place. Say you create three commits this way. It can do more than that, of course. Thus, if you add some but not all changed files and then run git diff, you git parents login see only files that are changed but not added. Git provides many ways to do so. You can also use the name, such as master.

Consider the following command: git log master. The section below on merges explains how a commit object could have two or more parents. By default, only hard drives are selected. The default value is false. Maybe you are thinking that the common commits of, say A and B, really belongs to A, but this is not the case they belong to both branches. Upon this is configurable starting from TortoiseGit 2. If deactivated the log contains only revisions which last modified a line for the annotated revision. Set this value to false if you don't want TortoiseGit to show icons for the shell context menu items. By default this is set to true, but in certain cases, e. Oneline The --oneline flag condenses each commit to a single line. Detect moved or copied lines Disabled Traditional blame algorithm, the search for parents is limited to the file and will follow renames. I like to use git log --oneline --graph --decorate, with or without --all as well, as needed.
